Members of OBTA:

As you know, the northeastern area of Japan was recently hit by a devastating earthquake and tsunami. As each day goes by, the scope and magnitude of the tragedy continues to grow.

In our small connection to that part of the world, we have been advised by the Japan SportBaton Association that they have not yet been able to make contact with many twirling teams and twirlers in that area. I am sure each of you will join me in sending our hopes and best wishes their way.

In addition, the Japan SportBaton Association has officially notified the WBTF that they will not be participating in the 2011 WBTF International Cup.

As a way of showing our thoughts and prayers are with them, the CBTF is asking every IC athlete to purchase a Twirling for Japan t-shirt to be worn at the IC in Jacksonville.  All proceeds will be donated to earthquake and tsunami relief for baton twirlers in Japan.
